Skyhook has announced that TweetCaster has integrated Skyhook's Location Engine in its Amazon Kindle Fire app. Location services are now available on this device for the first time.
TweetCaster is a third-party mobile Twitter app with millions of users and growing. Lightning fast, with a clean and attractive user interface, this new functionality enables features such as “Nearby Tweets” and geotagging.
“Since the current version of the Kindle Fire does not provide location services, we couldn't provide our users with key location-based functionality,” said Evan Conway, president of OneLouder. “By adding the Skyhook SDK, our Kindle Fire version of TweetCaster now performs to the same standard as our other versions.”
“Any Android app that uses Skyhook will automatically work on the Kindle Fire without any changes,” said Ted Morgan, founder and CEO of Skyhook. “The Skyhook SDK not only provides superior location reliability, but also protects developers from increasing fragmentation. Developers can build their app once and avoid worrying whether the device has proper location support.”
